Check this out!My brand new Website !!!
Hi guys!
It's been awhile from the last post(ehm actually more than one month) but i had my good reasons:
one of those it's that i've just finished uploading my brand new website!!
Be sure to have a look at it at:
/marcocaradonna.com
I'll use it as a online portfolio for my works but i'll keep anyway posting on this blog sketches and doodles.
i realized that a blog was no longer a optimal way to show my own works , so this is the reason for this change
In this way i'll be able to use blogpost for more extravaganzas like video,mp3 and all the kinda stuff i'd like to share with you
So i hope you'll apreciate this:)

Artorder_Catastrophic Dragon_Earthquake!!

Hi guys, here we are with another Artorder submission, and the brief was:"
Without getting deep into the story and mechanics of the piece (you want that, then subscribe!) - the basic concept of the catastrophic dragon is simple. They are infused with the elemental fury that brings about catastrophic effects in the world. So, a volcanic Dragon is infused with the elemental fury of the volcano. When you look at the concept art created by Richard Whitters, Wizards of the Coast Lead concept artist, you will notice that the "body" of the dragon is just a shell or carapace that holds the elemental fury. It is a fun and cool concept.
The Details
• The catastrophic force that you will be using is "earthquake". • You can choose how you show that elemental force. • Create a catastrophic dragon that follows the basic body style shown in the Volcanic Dragon • Create a unique head profile/silhouette, and other body elements that create a easily identified dragon (from the other catastrophic dragons) "
As usual i'm too lazy to write something decent, but i hope that this image speaks for itself
This is how i see the Earthquake Dragon
Hope you enjoy;)

Artorder_Concept Tuesday: B&W Vampire

Hi guys,
this is my contribution to B&W Vampires Artorder Challenge
Back to the old days with Ink treatment(well actually it's digital inking ehrm..)
Here's the whole brief: "
Illo 001: Gwenth and Garreth
Specifications: 1/3 V - 3” w X 6.75” h
This illo depicts a pair of vampires: Gwenth and Garreth.
Must be B&W - no grayscale. You can use line, hatch, zip tone, stipple any tool or technique - as long as it is strictly BLACK & WHITE.
Gwenth: A female vampire, once a human, who excels at stealth and ambush attacks. She wears leather armor and carries two short swords. She should look both seductive and dangerous, but let’s avoid clothing that’s too revealing or risqué. She has short, dark hair, and is an effective assassin. If we see her partially obscured by shadows, that’s great.
Garreth: A male vampire, once a human, who is more of an up-front bruiser. He wears leather armor, and carries a heavy shield and short sword. He’s standing in front of Gwenth, almost protectively. He has pale, almost white hair, and the scars of several battles. He’s thickly built and muscular, and his mouth is open to reveal his fangs and vampiric nature. "
Be sure to check this challenge, i'm sure that you'll able to see some kickass pieces!!!!
Also for this one Jon(Wizard of the Coast Art director)has asked some collegues from competing companies to jump in and vote their favorites , the complete line up is:
Kris Aubin - Privateer Press
James Davis - Paizo Publishing
Brian Glass - White Wolf | CCP
Sarah Robinson - Paizo Publishing | Pathfinder
Jon Schindehette - - Wizards of the Coast | Dungeons & Dragons
I think that , as a quite young professional, having the opportunity to showcase some of my works to such a list of people(real professionals), is a great opportunity, and if you also consider that joining Artorder Challenge is TOTALLY FREE, i thik the least you could do is to pay a visit to this site and spread the word about this EMERGING ART COMMUNITY!!
As usual i'm on rush, so a big ciao to everyone!

Shelter us is out! Yog-Sothtoh Avatar

© 2009 Chaosium Inc.
Finally i can post these three little contributions i've made for Chaosium "Shelter Us", an amazing Call of Cthulhu® RPG adventure module, set in a dystopic alternative future in which earth has faced horror of the Nuclear Third World War...
Just to make things more spicy, we have here some of the classical Lovecraft's VIB(Very Important Beings): Yog-Sothoth and his pets!!
Hope you enjoy a lot!
As an old fan of Lovecraft's novels i can't really explain how were my feelings when Dustin Wright(Chaosium art director)asked me to illustrate this module
Last but not least we have also a little human guest, Davie, whom design's main inspiration come from a true classic late80's sci-fi movie(try to guess)
Ok stop all that chatting!
Hope you enjoy!

Artorder_Concept Tuesday:Usual Suspect!

Hello!
This week Artorder Challenge was quite different from previous ones, and a little bit more challenging one (well , really speaking a lot more;)
The brief was:
"Usual Suspect" challenge requirements:
• 4 silhouettes
• The figures must represent the four D&D® character "roles" - Defender, Striker, Controller, and Leader
• The "roles" are explained here below
In our imaginary game, we have 4 playable races - adopted from the four D&D® "character roles":
Defender - Defenders have the highest defenses in the game and good close-up offense. They are the party's front line conbatants: wherever they are standing, that's where the action is. Defenders have abilities and powers that make it difficult for enemies to move past them or to ignore them in battle.
Striker - Strikers specialize in dealing high amounts of damage to a single target at a time. They have the most concentrated offense of any character in the game. Strikers rely on superior mobility, trickery or magic to move around tough foes and single out the enemy they want to attack.
Controller - Controllers deal with large numbers of enemies at the same time. They favor offense over defense, using powers that deal damage to multiple foes at once, as well as subtler powers that weaken, confuse, or delay their foes.
Leader - Leaders inspire, heal, and aid the other characters. Leaders have good defenses, but their strength lies in powers that protect their companions and target specific foes for the party to concentrate on."
I decided to use humanoid race for all my silhouettes, so that now we have:
an Orc leader
a Bugbear Defender
a Goblin Controller
another Goblin as a Striker
The most difficult thing has been make clear the difference between Striker and Controller as they are both not so defense oriented, not first line combatant, used to trickery and magic to make up for their low defense skill... in fact the most noticeable difference is in the amount of target they can manage, while Striker chooses to deal with one target at once(trying to deal as much damage as possible), Controller can hits multiple targets in the same time
So i decided to use a huge boomerang for Striker(as a a matter of fact that weapon can hit just one target at once) and some fire-based magic skill for Controller(you never imagine what to expect from a magic user;), so now you can see him floating on a sort of magical shield warming up his hands:) in the meanwhile
Hope you enjoy it!!
M
P.S.
Sketches and thumbnails will follow up in a short time(now i've to take a little rest)
Goodnight:)

Grazie mille a tutti:)
